What you're doing is converting a video file (DIVX, Xvid etc) to DVD. It's taking a long time due to the conversion process NOT because it's burning it slowly.

it depends what you are playing it on. my DVD player in my car can play any file so i write them to DVD as a mpeg file so i dont need to convert it. that would make it quicker. but i dont know if normal DVD players do that?

Try using another conversion programme before you burn with Nero. You may find it'll be slightly quicker, but don't expect miracle results as it's a slow process anyway.

I dont ever write dual layers at faster than 4x it doesnt seem to do as clean a burn if you go faster...

I convert with ConvertXtodvd which automatically burns to my DVD drive.

I suspect you are converting from AVI?

Same as. Not happy burning at anything above that - My standalone doesn't seem like anything burned quicker - Tend to skip a bit when burned too fast.

in all my pc years ive burned everything from films to music full pelt with no problems whatsoever, hardly even had a coaster
