Network Computer Mass Shutdown

  Scirocco GT 2.0
Evening,

Can anyone recommend software for a Windows 2008 Server to enable us to set times for our classroom computers to shutdown and then start up in the morning?

It has to be reliable and preferably give the user 5 minutes warning if the computer is still active.

Cheers in advance!

I've got my work pc's bios set to boot up at 7:15 in time for me to get into work at 7:30 to log straight on.

Cant help on shutting down though.

We have a few Dell Optiplex machines which are set to do that but as you say it doesn't help shutdown and even if it did it would mean going around the hundreds of computers we have setting them up

Cheers for the other suggestions I will try them out! :approve:

More suggestions welcome though!

Does that shutdown command for dos prompt not work on 2008?

You can do multiple computers, timers and messages with that.

shutdown /s /m \\machine-name works but it's not that reliable and it doesn't have the flexibility I would like and doesn't have a command for turning the machine back on again?

EDIT: Oh yeaah http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-cmd.aspx

I would really like clever software which knows when the computer is active too tbh

I'm looking at http://www.1e.com/Downloads/Evaluate.aspx at the moment, looks good
