Networking help required ASAP

Right, my work have somehow stopped my access to the internet (i use my laptop and has always been set to auto detect settings and i just plug a network cable into it) and told me i can have it back but gotta solve the problem myself (gay i know).

Now he has mentioned its something to do with the firewall and they have changed no settings on my laptop, just the firewall.

I just get the page cannot be displayed error.

Please help and let me know if there is something i can try that may resolve it.

im pretty sure he has blocked it through the sonicwall firewall.

inthat case yer fooked unless you can alter the settings on the firewall if they have it set up properly

he has said now that i need to change a setting on my laptop so the firewall thinks it a different computer :s

change your pc name to something else, your original name has prob been blocked? or your ip address has been blocked.

if that doesnt work, you'll probably need to setup a proxy using your works firewalls proxy settings.

changing the name wont help if he is on a domain he wont be able to rejoin it
it really does just all depend on what and how they have actually done it setting up a proxy wont help if the firewall is set as your default gateway

done it! i set it to manual ip addressing and copied it from one of the other computers here that i knew was on manual!

LOL did you use the same IP as the other PC

Someone is going to not get network access LOL

an easier way could have been to have just release and renewed your dhcp lease and hoped it picked up another number or just set it to manual and put your original ip in again and changed what ever it was they had changed
