New 172

Been quoted £12900 for a brand new 172. Is this a good price?

NO !! If you are talking about a 182 then yeah that is not bad but not a 172 ! Check out http://www.motorpoint.co.ukwww.motorpoint.co.uk where you can get a BRAND NEW 172 for £10,999 ! Save you £2,000 there ! They currently have all colours except Red IN STOCK now.

Sorted ! Or you could get a 182 for £12,000.

No.!!! They are 11,900 at my local supermarket for a latest spec 172 (cruise control etc)......

But motorpoint etc are imports so no alarm and only a years warranty.

MattsClio, what difference does it makes that it is an import ? A huge number of people on these boards have import 172s and they came with a 3 year warranty anyway.

Do a search on the boards for warranty and you will find many threads on this subject explaining this topic.

As for alarms, you can get one for £250 at your local car alarm firm, that is what I did, so..... you can get a brand new 172 with alarm and warranty for £11,249 !

Up to you if you want to spend more than you need mate.

yes, mine is a parallel import, so it has the full warranty, also the dealer is fitting a Thatcham Cat1 alarm for 250 quid for me, so Im paying the same, 11249, not bad for a brand new car.

as long as the import comes from Europe you are entitled to full 3 years warranty.

I dont think there is anything else to say.

You can pay £12,900 for a UK car with 3 year warranty and alarm

OR

You can pay £11,249 for an Import with 3 year warranty and alarm

That is the choice available to you if you are buying new.
