I heard DCi's are pretty sound. I wanted one but they we too pricey for my range, only about £5k for 54 plate tho....

I have a mk3 diesel clio.

I cannot comment on the comparison to older clios, but the built quality is excellent and I am getting 50mpg for day to day journeys.

It has some power even in 5th, so you always have acceleration, in fact anything over 45 mph just leave it in 5th.

In my car, theres a few things missing that I'd like that didnt come, like climate control, cruise control., but overall it is a very solid car.

Won car of the year 2006 aparently

5 star euro n-cap.

They are pricey really, and it wasnt my first choice of car, but I'm happy with it. If you wanna know any more feel free to ask.

My mates a hand over person at my local Renault Garage and he uses a brand new 1.5 dci clio - to be honest although the new clios are really girly (but would prob suit your sis) they are very economicla and to be honest are actually quite pokey for a diesel so my bet is bollox to the 206 - tell her to get the clio!

I dont believe they are that girlie really, then again the clio does have a slight reputation for being girlie anyway.

I cant wait for the engine to run in a little so I can really see what shes made of :)

sorry dont mean to offend - i just think that its more bubbly than the mean look it had before. still a greta driving car tho dont get me wrong.

Nice cars shame there quitre expensive for a decient spec and there hevaier than the Mk2's so you need more power for the same performance so you get worse MPG.
Its not bad car though, have a look at the Skoda Fabia though and Seat Ibiza as well.
Milage make a big difference change the oil over 9k or less and it helps loads. Mine on 58k (Mk2 dci) and its much better for the milage.

Spoken to my sis, she's looking at getting the 1.5 dci dyamique 86.

Renault quoted her over the phone £11,360 with air con. I looked in auto express (at the back) it says aim to pay £9,280. I believe air con is £500, met paint £300 optional extras? So should she be paying £10,000??

Yep under 10k is what you should be looking.
Depending how bad the sales have been going they maybe willing to make a good deal. Try at the end of the month though as this is when hey will want the sales if they have had bad months.
there are places ie http://www.broadspeed.com/ who will sell you that spec for £9880 and there Uk dealerships.
