New Clutch??? Help

  BMW F31
i have just rang my local renault garage (it used to be renault franchised now they are just renault independant specialists) i need a new clutch so i got 2 quotes.

clutch supplied by me, but they fit it inclusive of VAT came to £375
clutch supplied by them and all fitted etc £500

now my question is am i being arse raped?
is there anywhere else that could do it cheaper? yozzasport. k-tec. bb tuning etc etc?

also i have had trouble selecting gears, i asked them how much it would be to check and adjust the gear selector, they told me it isnt adjustable and that all they can is lubricate the rods and check the gearbox oil level!!??

im pretty sure through reading through my haynes manual that it is adjustable?

can anyone confirm this.

cheers guys ;)

f**k sorry to hear that fella, I've got the same problem mine really doesnt like going into 1st unless its from a standing start. It's started doing it in 2nd now and I'm abit worried about it.

Is this the same problem you got?

yeah pretty much its not going into gear, it feels like something is in the way rather than it crunching etc and being the gearbox if ya get me.

did a quick search on the forum and it seems like mr clutch might be a good place to get it done

hiya im new to the forum and just 2 let ya know i got a new clutch done on my 1.4 mk1 by mr clutch. They charged me £215 and that come with a 2 year worranty, only thing is they broke my gearbox mounting pin in the process and reruited my power steering pump hose undernieth the gearbox so it would not rattle so much and be as noticable, oh and i have the same problem selecting 1st gear when the engine is more cold for some reason untill a comlete stand still almost, its not a good idea to try and select it whilst moving anyways but hayho lol. hope that helps ya a bit mate

£315 a bit steap £250 I'd say more reasonable including them supplying clutch.

Gear selector is adjustable try some specilist gearbox places they are usualyl much better value.

I'd not expect your clutch to be worth check the mounts etc first.

what do you mean check the mounts?

and do you mean £375 is a bit steep?

and the gear selector is deffo adjustable? i cant believe they told me it wasnt, and they are ex renault stealers!!
t***s lol

tw*ts lol

Check the engine gearbox and most importantly the dogbone are all Ok no wear etc if the dogbone is badly worn it knock the car out of gear a lot.

£375 is a lot to put it in prespective its only a few hours to do a Williams/16V is possibly the worse Clio to do and I found specialist will do it for £300+vat inclding them suplying the clutch.

Yep gearbox link is adjustble.
