New guy here :-) Opinion needed please!

  52 plate 1.2 clio
So this is my clio

I can not decide whether or not i should paint the renault diamond black or leave it as it is?

Also I know I am new, but if anyone has any suggestions as to how to improve my car they would be gratefully received!

I'd leave it silver, and if i'm honest to improve it you need to seriously get rid of those black back lights! And get matching wheels too.

I have matching wheels, just got the spare on at the moment to get the 4th alloy repaired. Really, ya dont like the black lights? I still have the red originals, only just put them on and cant decide if i like them! Opinions appreciated though, thanks!

Aw! But I want my car to look different to the rest :) Your opinions are valued so will probably change them back over and sell the black ones.

Unless anyone has other ideas?

"Different" doesn't always mean "better" sir :)

There areloads of threads on here of people asking the same quesiton, just type "replica" or "y0!" into the search bar and you'll find plenty of inspiration,

standard lights
get some renault alloys on it, in black if you prefer
then leave it

Why renault alloys, bit boring aren't they? I have the silver renault alloys already but got those aftermarket ones pretty cheap!

So you guys are pretty much telling me to undo the only two things I have changed on the car from stock, not that I am having a go, just pointing out my crap decisions :)

You get what you pay for! :)
It's all personal preference of course, this wheels business, but I've always found that designs used by the same manufacturer seem to work better than aftermarket stuff.
I was eyeing up some Laguna Alloys for my 172, just to be 'different'

Anyone have a suggested upgrade to the above?

A Clio 182 is the sport version, yours is a 1.2 Clio. Not the same, have a look around the site and learn a bit pal

Ok thanks, I am here to learn, had a good look around but am totally new to french cars, my last two were both fiestas!

So a 182 sport has lights that are compatible with mine? And i guess those are the lights in your avatar?

Yes that's right. Have a look on ebay, there will be loads for sale. Mk2 ph2 rear lights.

tbh dude, if youre into modifying your car in this way,
you're really on the wrong forum!!

this forum favours a more subtle look!
hence people telling you to put standard lights and get some bit off a sport clio to put on yours!

im guessing youve only just passed by your taste in modding, i did the same thing when i first got my clio,
And if i have a word of advice, its this.

Dont take the harsh comments people WILL make against your car,
dont get snotty with people just because you dont agree with them, rise above the idiots.
take them as contructive and look through some of the non-sport threads to find some inspiriation!
THEN you have the potential to make a lovely car!!

but as it stands, im not a fan of the rear lights at all! But it looks savable if you listen to people!!

P.S this should have been posted in "clio media" but im sure itll be moved in a few minutes!

Thanks for all the advice, it appears to have been moved to exterior and bodywork.

Also, I am more interested in modding the interior, I expect to get flamed for this, but I am going to change the door lock button for one from the centre of an xbox 360 controller with multi coloured leds in instead of the green ones :-/

fair enough, i shant judge the decision of the mods lol!

have a good sift through that link i posted and find things that jump out at you, because there are some fantastic looking non-sports in there!

dont just throw loads of cheap mods at the car and hope for the best. I did that (black lights, angel eyes, 17" wheels, etc) and i ended up hating the car and spending loads getting it back to standard!!
