New key recommendations

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding getting a new key cut and programmed for my 182?

Car only came with one key and its one of those things I would like to get sorted before its needed in an emergency :)

Seen that some people go straight to Renault, equally seen key blanks on eBay with unprogrammed fobs - is there any procedure or software that I could use at home to program my own key?

Thanks very much
Rob,

I've seen immobiliser disabling things that can be purchased, which would let me buy a blank key from eBay and have one cut locally - however if its something that I could do using CLIP that would be a good excuse to for me to buy the CLIP toys required....

Bypass box fairly expensive, would be interested to know how it is working though! I'm guessing that if I already have a working key I could dissemble the key and place the chip near to the reader then just get a few cheap keys cut sans code gubbins?

Let someone who knows what they're doing with Clip do it for you. Not worth risking bricking your ECU trying to attempt for what it costs to get done at a specialist.

True, get your point however I don't dive in at some point and learn how to use it I never will - seems like lots of things in the Renault world are "take it to a specialist" which tbh I've not come across with other makes of vehicle.

The rest of Clip isn't too bad to use. I just wouldn't trust myself coding keys ?

Thats an absolute bargain!

Thanks for the link - Essex isn't too far from me (surrey) so certainly worth a trip with some new keys me thinks. Does the remote unlock etc also work on the new keys?
keys are fully coded, so everything works.

  Hi comp phase 1
£15 for a brand new key, is it worth trying to repair a broken one?

Yes it’s worth it...I’ve ordered one but the link says it’s a repair service not a blank key?... as in.. I send my key to them?

This all sounds promising and right bargain, I could do with a spare fob at some point too [emoji106]

Next question.

Once I've purchased a new key where do I go to get it cut? Just a usual place?

Been looking into this myself. I believe you need the pin code to match the vin number associated with the uch to program the keys with clip. I also hear other programs will do it without too not sure if true or not ?
