New Model of Clio - more info pls

Hi guys, been eying up the new shape/model of the clio since it was released so to speak, and trading my old clio in tomorrow for it, just wondering if anyone has any goss about it?

I havnt met anyone that owns one yet, and Ive only seen 1 on the road so far.. which was on the motorway!

Any info/pics would be grately apreciated, the only pics I have seen is ones on google, which arnt the best - and seen the car in the showroom of course but that was few weeks ago

They're nice cars what exactly do you want to know same as the Mk 1 and " regards wiring (ie its not amazing) engines have to be more powerful to give them same speed as the Mk2 and there heavier. Good ride quality thought.

I've had mine since feb and to be honest, it hasnt dissapointed me

What model are you going for? I test drove a 1.4 auto petrol and it was like a piece of crap compared to my 1.5DCI.

i got the 1.6petrol and its a nice car, was a bit high b4 i lowered it like on stilts but now its nice, got a rough ride but much better than falling out the window when you take a corner, trading in for the 197cup next spring though.

oh yeah, use SHELL V POWER.

Its a 5dr 1.6 manual petrol im getting, things I am interested to know are..

How many gears has this car got? I thought perhaps since its a 1.6 engine, it could have 6gears? the one at the showroom was a 1.2, and had 5.

is the gearstick the lifting one, or simple one?

This key card thing.. instead of keys... is it true? if so.. whats it all about? and do ya really have to press a button beside the cd player to turn on/off the car engine? this would highly disturb me if a kid was in the front seat or if i poped into the shop for 2secs and it was pressed accidently!

hows the cd player? good sound blasting out? is the cd player by any chance an mp3 player too? (I know its prob not.. but hey, just thought id ask)

any other info such as hows the 'feel', how much petrol gets the car full(price wise)

5 gears have no idea about what u mean about gearstick lifting etc? key card yes but it is an opition otherwise its a key so no start stop button (this is located under CD player to the passenger side due to left hand drive origin) I cd player gd MP3 is an opition. i dont thing passenger seat is height adjustible but not sure.

5 speed box.
6 speed on the dci 105hp and the 197 model (ironically the same gearbox version).
Mp3 is an optional different head unit cannot remmber how much though, I've a options brocure somwhere for it its Sony from memory.
Petrol depends how hard you are I get terribale mpg out of the 1.6 but there all tight engines 35mpg isn't a bad guess if you drive it moderatly.
I don't think pressing the button when the engine running switches it off only if its at idle you get used to the daft butoon though. You have to be in the car with the card so noone can accidently set off with the card being near the car.
Gearbox is one with the revers where 6th would be (from memory)

Fuel types don't matter there desinged for 95ron and not highly tunned so no point IMO.

Chnage the engine and gearbox oil for sdecient stuff after 6k (depending on your driving style depends on oil choice) and then engine ever 6k

the only extra's im ordering is A/C & 1.6 Engine, was meant to come without Air Con & only 1.2

I tested a 1.2 16v and hated it. Only thing that was good was the brakes. Handling/ride/acceleration all disappointed me compared to a mk2

Dont let mk2 owners put you off. the New clio is a very different ride to the older models. There is tons of room inside and I doubt you will be dissapointed. let us know when you pick the car up and get us some pics. 56 reg?

Indeed she did, however I was about to find out for myself anyway, the reason I was asking on here is because 1) the garage was closed, 2) might be able to get more views and 3) alot of salesmen/saleswomen dont know as much as people on here... seriously!

Ive drove about 100miles today in it and I'm very impressed, few things are weiry.. Im not to sure about the side lamps.. I only realised it were special "corner lights", which im not to sure what to think at the moment, havnt really went round a dark corner yet, but im sure they're helpfull

Its keys I got, so there isnt a Start/Stop button beside the stereo, which I must say I wasnt looking forward too, so im glad its keys!

doesnt half take some petrol, think I read in the book its a 55letre tank? jeezus!

How many MPG do you get on the 1.6 then?

The 197 is only at 29MPG on long motorway journeys. When I'm having fun it won't go above 23MPG. Still puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it tho.

Its costing me around £53 every week to fill it up. I managed to fill it up twice last sunday as well.

My MPG sits around the 29 mark for normal in-town driving and after a bit of motorway driving it's at about 33. But the cars only done 700 miles so far so I would have thought the engine won't be at it's most efficient yet.

P.S. Nnice choice of car by the way , I have the exact same as you but mine is the 3 door model.

Its 34.9 MPG, says this on the little display.

Does anyone else find it alittle strange how.. well before I got this car, I seen... maybe 2 of them within the last few months, and now Ive got it.. Ive seen 4 in 2days? lol? very strange the strangest thing ever was yesterday when I drove across to fife, I seen the same car, model, color and very freaky... same regi plate except 1 letter, :O

I used to have a mk1 clio.. R241 GTL.

I saw a very similar reg plate on another car (R341 GTL)... except it was a red mondeo taxi..
