New monitor. Response times!?

I bought this... http://www.ebuyer.com/product/174584

Cracking monitor, no dead pixels, and the image is sharp as. It has DVI/D-SUB and HDMI. The only thing I would say is that the stand is a bit wobbly, but it doesn't detract from the performance obviously.

Regarding your two links, I've heard nothing but good things about Iiyama. If you can deal without HDMI, then maybe go for an LED? Like http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-033-BQ&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat=

Oooooo, I like that Samsung one. Would match the TV in the living room

You've thrown a spanner in the works now mate!!

Trust me, I am more than happy with it! Amazon do it for £172.90 too, which is a decent saving from ebuyer.

Have you gone through HDMI or DVI-D?

I'm using DVI, but I tested my laptop via HDMI and it was superb. At one point I had my PC and two laptops connected to it, and it has a handy button on the front to cycle through DVI/D-SUB/HDMI. Oh, and all the buttons are touch sensitive too (as in, no physical buttons) which is pretty cool.

Bahhhh Malachi! It's your fault I'm spending more money now!

Defo going to go for that Samsung now. One review says HDMI isn't very good for general desktop use?

Overclockers are selling it for £189. Might nip up to them on my dinner and get it today...

Just get it from Amazon? It will come pretty quickly. I ordered mine via free super saver delivery and it came the next day via 24 hour courier.

I'm far too impatient!! :D

Also want to get a new set of headphones and overclockers are the cheapest for that you see.

Ah right, fair enough. Are you getting the new Siberias? I had another look at those, they look stunning.

I see your bonus is being put to good use on things you really need, if only you werent a pisshead geek, you'd have lots of money.

His headphones must be good though, i let myself into his house one night and into his living room whilst he was playing cs, sat on the sofa behind him for 15 mins and he didnt hear me or know i was there. Lucky he wasnt w**king tbh, should have seen his face when he turned round lol.

Haha, actually true!

Malachi, I've just bought it! Along with the new Siberias V2's in Black. Selling my V1's now if anyones interested.

£250 ouch! f**k it! I'm going Vegas in June with Jim aswell.

  Giulietta 940
How much were the black V2s? Prices seem to vary depending on colour, I think I saw the red ones at like £70! And the orange ones were sold out :( Not that I need any, my Creative Fatalitys are still holding up nicely.

£66 quid mate. Went for the set that includes the USB sound card because this system hasn't got a sound card. Will get 1 inventually and have aWeSoMe SoUnDs!

  Giulietta 940
I'm using the onboard sound card. I had a Creative X-Fi before, and I can't say I notice the difference. Not to say there isn't one, but my ears may not be that finely tuned.

Im currently using DVI via my XFX GTX 260. Would I see any advantage of running it via HDMI?

Ive got a Samsung SyncMaster T240HD, running at 1920x1200.

From what I've read mate the only difference between DVI-D and HDMI is that HDMI can send sound aswell as image. As far as I know, the picture quality between HDMI and DVI-D is practically the same. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Yup.

That's what I initially though. Couldn't see any advantages.

Wouldn't want to use HDMI for sound anyway as I have a creative x-fi card.

Yep, pretty much identical. I've used DVI on my PC for years - massively superior than basic VGA. But I wish I'd stumped up the extra £20 or so and got my Iiyama monitor with the additional HDMI connector - simply to connect the 360 Bookend into it as well.

HDMI audio on monitors/screen circa <30" is pretty much pap in my experience - using only the most rudimentary of tinny speakers. It does serve a purpose I guess, but unless the monitor is decent, you'll be hearing audio via decent headphones or a seperate surround sound system.

Oh, and in answer to the original thread question - yep, refresh rates mean little these days. Even if I did pay extra to get a <2ms one. ;)

D.

First impressions, wilky?

Oh my goodness it's incredible!! Decided to go for a dual monitor set-up and the comparrison between the two is massive! The Samsung is just so much more clearer and vibrant, it really is in a league of it's own. I can't believe I managed to get along with the old monitor now lol

And the Siberia V2's are also awesome, so comfortable you forget you're wearing them! Thanks loads for the recomendation mate, I'm really impressed with everything so far

  Giulietta 940
No probs. In actual fact, it was my clan mate who recommended the monitor to me when I was looking for one. I'm glad I got it tbh, I'll probably get another one in the future.
