New on here few questions

  vx220 and Astravan
Hello guys im new to this forum been around other forums for a few years just never had a clio. but at the moment i am going to sell my vx220 project that i was going to build it up to around 450bhp but decided it wasnt for me as i would be scared to use it due to the amount of money i have sat in it. so im selling everything up. i have an astravan as my everyday car so i am now looking for a track car. i have been advised by my friend whos brother had a clio sport which he used as a trackday car and told me to get one.

i am now looking for a clio project so that i can use it for track, now what power realistically does a throttle boddied clio 172 get? and is it useable? or am i better just using a cammed clio etc?

i havent done alot of research yet in to clios so i am hoping you guys will help. relalistically if i bought the clio standard lets say how much am i looking at getting it throttle boddied for and what to do need to get this on the road?

what sort of suspension do you guys go for as towards track use? KW or do you have other suspension which is better for the clio?

any help greatly apprectiated

thanks craig

I'd estimate 3 k for around 200 hp (or a bit more). Strip as much of the interior as you wish to save weight, too. Even then, the real trick is spending time driving to get the most from it. Several times I have raced at airfield events against upgraded Clios, mines standard at 160hp, and I win. See the projects folder for plenty of details.

thanks matey. yer was thinking about jsut getting one thats maybe cammed or something to start off with and go for the cup as it doesnt have the unessasary aircon and leather seats that i dont need etc. and has speedline turinis which are a lighter wheel. the aim is to try and get to a track day once every 2 months at least. so once i get a standard one first job will be strip it and take it to track. are they realible as my friends mate has an issue with the fuel pump when he tracked his then once that was fix he then got a problem with the throttle pedal so he sold it. is this a regular issue or was he just unlucky?

Yep there reliable yep enough people on here use them on track etc.

Reliuability is more down to luck and how you treat them
