New Owner basics

Hi all i wonder if you can help me with some basic details about clios particularly to do with ICE.

I have just bought a Clio 1.2 Grande Y reg register May 2001 5 door. It only has a tape player in it and at the moment ive not picked the car up yet so do not know about the speakers or anything or the cables attached to the head unit.

A couple of questions (I know most have been answered in other posts but i keep getting confused as they are all over the place)?

a: Am i best to up date the casette player to a cd player head unit or can i just buy a multichanger and attach it to the tape deck?

b: If i was to attach an aftermarket headunit and was to use one of the leads can i get the stalk remote to work as well as the display? Obviously i dont think that the station details will display on the display but will the time and things still be shown?

c: how good are the standard speakers? I dont want anything great just an ok sound throughout the car?

d: How easy is it to change the gear knob and andbrake and the likes? What would people recommend as simple in car styling mods that arent to expensive but still look effective and personalise the car a bit?

And finally what is the mark and phase of the clio that i have bought, i think it is a mark 2 but would appricoiate it if some one could clarify that for me?

c.They arent bad, they do the job a lot better than other makes of cars! This is not my opinion, just my friends who has a 2003 clio. I still havent got mine

d.good idea, gear knobs etc.. on ebay, surely quite simple, and i think i may venture to do something similar to you!

It is a mark 2 for sure, there are currently 3 phases in the mark 2. I asked this question recently on this forum, have a look for it, i put it up in the general board. But i think you will have the phase 1,maybe phase 2. but i did say I THINK!!
