New owner. Old car.

Hi

just got some decent pictures taken of my Clio 182.
Wondered if anyone knows the car since it’s been through 10 owners before me.
I’ve got some history but be great to hear from someone who has owned it in the past.
Was sold it as FF and think it looks the part after reading the forums.
Not great with cars but hoping to get this one into good shape and keep it that way.

Am I being too precious? I bought the car for a bit too much. Spent £500 on getting a sports cat fit and putting the car through its MOT. I’ll be paying £500 a year for tax and insurance. It’s currently on 69700 miles and I’m wondering whether I should keep it or sell it and get something I don’t mind leaving outside.

No you aren’t mats, I keep mine under cover in the garage! I keep my main car which is worth probably 10 times the value of my clio outside 😂

I’m in the same boat as you.

I’ve spent a fortune on my Cup which has 79k on it and was obsessed with trying to keep it immaculate for months and months afterwards.



I figured that if I sell it, I’ll never get my money back, someone else would just see the benefits of all my time and effort.

And, it’s now as solid as an old Clio can be so I’m trying to be less precious and will be using it far more. I’ve just removed the rear seats because I’m going to start putting my Gravel Bike in the back.

Use it and enjoy it. That’s what I say.

Sounds like you’ve got the right idea. I’ve started asking people to be quiet near the garage so they don’t upset the car. Probably getting a bit carried away. Hopefully with lockdown ending (for now) we’ll all be able to get the cars out and enjoy them for the summer.

Been out for a decent run today. Once I got home was checking every cm of the car to make sure it still looked perfect. Decided to list it on eBay and hoping to buy a higher mileage less pristine model that I can mess about with. If anyone’s interested let me know or stick a bid on.

Exhaust mounts rectified after the MOT with the standard Powerflex mod so can be easily renewed again in the future. Over the last three weeks I’ve kept it out and started using the Clio as my main driver outside of work.
