Right,

Budget of about £450 for a new computer, I want a fairly good gfx card too, well basically I want to be able to play games on quite high settings if possible.

Anyone wanna price a complete one up for me and breakdown etc...

Everything, case, psu, ram, hdd, gfx card, cpu, mobo.

Will be stripping down my current one which is:

Amd athlon XP 3200+ , 1024MB ddr ram, Geforce 5900xt 128mb, 200gb hdd,

how much could I expect for the above parts in all roughly if i sold them?

You'll get peanuts for your old one tbh and £450 for a new one able to play games on high settings from scratch is going to be pushing it, if not impossible.

You're talking £200+ for a decent high end graphics card alone.

£537 though, will easily overclock to 2.6GHz with that cooler and that case that is simply awesome case, memory easily hot 1066GHz too

That graphics card is only DX9 but will play anything you throw at it, If you want to play DX10 your not gonna on this budget, Id wait til either the 8800GTS640 drops or ATIs new 2900Pro thats out in november which is basically an underclocked 2900XT but will hit 2900XT specs all for £170
If you must have DX10 now your looking at another £100 on the above price so £640ish

Ok thanks for the info thats really helpful, im not to worried about DX10 for moment , maybe later down the line but not yet. Intel over AMD (although I dont want to start a big thread or arguing) lol !

I've got in mine:

ASrock motherboard £40
takes a dual core chip but also can take the 4 core chip

PC5400 ram 2 x 1gb £50

e6600 dual core chip 2 x 2.4 ghz £134 but I'd go for the four core now which is the q6600 at £170

Plus I got a 7800 gtx graphics card 256mb off ebay for £80.

£300 ish. Then whack a couple of 80 gb sata drives in for about £80 in total.

Ok cheers for the info mate, from the other AMD VS INTEL thread I think ill go for intel , always have had AMD's and had no problems, but intel seems to be the choice now. Just need to choose my £500's worth of parts
