Nice car , just be careful when advertising , my friend had people sneaking up to his drive taking photos of his car when it was for sale on a well known car advertising site on the net , nothing happened in the end but you can never be to careful

The new keys will come up on any renault dealer database so new owner will know if ever they run full history which TBH i would if I was buying a car costing that much , even if it was HPI clear .
Don't mention it in the advert but if someone calls, explain to them over the phone what happened.
I can't believe so many people are saying not to say anything. They're the same people that would be going mental and calling the seller a massive c**t if you'd just bought this car and then found out it's history.

This forum is a very very strange place at times. Usually people would go "Bats**t mental" (- as a wise man once said) if this type of thing wasn't mentioned but now suddenly its ok to not tell anyone. Righto!
As Dan says, the right thing to do is explain when people come to look at the car. I agree that putting it in the ad would harm the potential sales, but to not mention it at all is wrong.

one of the reasons I asked the question as I personally think I'm stuck in the middle and unfortunately I loose both ways really.
Say something in the advert and thus not have many viewings etc and expect to have to drop the price
Don't say anything and get accused of being a c**t if the buyer found out...
I will explain the situation should any potential buyer actually bother to enquire, I'm just going to leave it out of the advert and see what that brings...
Price wise I'm not sure how to price it, i can't find a comprisable car on PH or AT that has quite this cars spec
Most around the same age are going for £17+ with any real spec and poor specced cars are dipping into low 16's
Im thinking of punting it in at £16750,
It will be comfortably the cheapest, most highly specced car available...

A trader will or should do checks on the car.
Unless they look on the web they won't find anything though, it wasn't damaged or HPI registered.
Just taken for a day or two and returned in the same condition.

Can knock a over a grand off for trade deal according to a few people ive asked and the problem with trading is I'm not actually sure what I want so was looking to start totally a fresh, wipe my loan off and start again...

Im trying to not let this whole experience put me off having nice cars as I really do enjoy messing with and having a decent enthusiast car, I'd be bored to death with a Boggo golf or ford etc
Current idea is to get a decent 172 for some more trackdays, buy it outright then weigh up my options next year when the new crop of hot hatches hit the market namely the new RS Clio and fiesta ST
But then people like scott decide to sell epic cars like his nimbus 197 which make my ears prick up!

I think mentioning it is the right thing to do in a private sale but will affect its value down to similar to that of a trade in, therefore I'd be tempted to trade it in and stay quiet!
