what im struggling to understand is why buy a brand new car you dont like the looks of for X amount, when you could of just bought a diesel for everyday use that you like the look of.

I enjoy driving?? I've said from day one when the 200 was released, it's pig ugly but that wouldn't stop me buying.
As far as I'm concerned, until you get to the £25k+ bracket there are very few genuinely attractive looking cars about. Inoffensive and ordinary, but very few attractive cars.
I'd rather have an ugly car that's a decent drive, than an a3 etc that's dull.

Surely being in the calibre of job you're in you could afford something alot quicker, better looking and fun than a 200 where all you seem to do is compare it to you're old 172, should of bought a newer ph1. (BTW im not being funny if im coming across like i am)

Its all about making an impression with Warren.

"If you could just read out the numbers from top to bottom. Oh, BTW, I have a 10 plate. Ya'l-mean"

It's the point of reference I'm used to in all honesty. Yeah, I could afford 'better', but until you get to the m3/rs4 level (ie >£30k new), there aren't many cars that I enjoy driving more.
I'd love an elise, but it's just not practical enough. 370z isn't (imo) a great car to drive, and the mpg is an issue.
I don't attach any status to what I drive, wether it's a Renault or a Porsche. Just cars at the end of the day. Gone are the days of being precious about a car. Freds already spanked the 200, and I've offered to lend it to a member for him to try already!

Lovely motor.

Torn between one of these and a Meg, looking to of made my mind up by the end of the month. Love working the engine to get the rewards, on the other hand I wouldn't mind to try some boost for a while.

Judging from my experience I'd go for a Clio, loads more fun and still quick. The 200 is the drivers car.

There's not a bad choice out of those 2 tbf.

Just not as quick as my 182 :( Much better car though.

Warren, This doesnt help ''I'd still take the 172 for a b-road blast in Wales. I'd just rather be in the 200 on the drive to Wales''

Which would you pick if you had to do both? Taking price, costs and everything into consideration?

Id choose the Clio over the megane ever time ( bar the R26.R)

I agree with Warren, looks arent massively important for me when choosing a car. The 200 drives nice, so he bought it ...

Do you lot seriously think that a PH1/PH2 clio is 'good looking'? Roffle. Its cheap, relatively quick, handles nicely & most importantly, is great fun. Hence why i bought another - its does it job very well.

Just like a 200.

Only done mway so far. Very comfy, built well (although not german standard). Def more pull than a 197, shift is good (although the stitching on the knob is very rough).
Exhaust sounds great! That was unexpected.

Don't like the steering wheel, I prefer a thinner rim.

Didnt pay much attention to the 197 then as they have the same system ;)

I am Jealous though, even if it is GT spec ;) :(

Possibly, i do think that that its more 172 to 182 imo after driving Steves when i had mine........Its not night and day imho. Plus points for me are better ratios and quicker rack on cup spec. Actual turn of speed imo was no different. The lower gearing in 1st + 2nd helps the 'grunt'
