i wouldnt recommend holding them in place like i did with cable ties because it marked my wheel.

what do you think? ive put a guide up on how i did it if anyone is interested in doing their own.

the fit is not perfect but it never is with fibre glass, as for making them and selling them it is a thought ive had but ill see how much interest i get in them. only thing i would be worried about is people not being happy with the fit once they have got them but we`ll see.

As long as you make people aware of this then it's upto them, although I see your point.

What do they feel like to hold? I would definately be interested in a pair, I like the CF ones but think they would be a bit out of place in an otherwise standard interior, whereas I could just spray these a dark colour and they wouldnt stand out!

PM me if you decide to mate :)

Does look good mate.

Post some decent close up pictures so people can see the fit for themselves.

will be near impossibe to reshape them as FG is solid and will just break,
they look like a pretty good fit to me tho

What do they "feel like" when driving compared to the rubber/plasticine ones?
not sure yet as ive only just finished them but i will report back.

the one on the left has a bit of a gap down the side but i think that is the leather more than the grip as i think the glue holding the leather on is coming away.

Good work!!

I like the silver aswell, goes well with all the other silver inserts inside the car :)

How long did it take you to make them??

They look ace mate! Good work.

I would be interested in buying a pair if u made more of these.

Let us know if u'll be making more..... but i wouldn't personally have silver, probably navy blue like what the color of the original thumbgrips are.

How long did it take you to make them??

the acual grips got started at about 1.00 pm and where ready for primmer by about 8.00pm ish. this included all the drying times and the amount of flatting i needed to do to the insides of them to get them to fit. that would be another problem if i decide to sell them. as i now have no way of testing the fit, who ever bought them would have to sand the inside down them selves to get them to fit properly. but to be fair this is probly the reason mine dont fit 100%. they probably need more sanding from behind. so they could fit better if i had the pacience to sand them a bit more.
i have been out for a drive with them and they feel fine, not that different from the originals tbh and as for wear and tear that would depend on the quality of the material they were finished in. if finished in a quality 2 pack laquer then they would last ages but i only used a cheap arosol silver i found in the back of my shed so no doubt they will need re finishing again soon but at least i know what im in for and its not a mojor task.

if i did decide to do some to sell how much would you guys pay for them. not expecting silly money but just want to no if its worth the work or not.

Hard to quote a price if i'm honest, havent got a clue about material prices and what you would value your time at.

I would want some unpainted as I'd decide on a colour myself.

Don't sell yourself short, should be a good service for people with screwed wheels so make sure you see a little profit!

i would only finish them in primer any way as like you say you would choose your own finish.
as for time it dosent really matter how long they take to make if people think they are crap then they wouldnt be worth the pennies i might get a few guinie pigs and see how things go.

maybe if you state a price which you think covers the material costs and reflects your time spent on them, then im sure many people including myself will be interested.
