New to Clio’s

Hiya all, im new to this forum and hopefully I will own a clio asap as Im on the search.... Ive previously owner a 1.4 Metro GTi which sadly failed its MOT quite badly, and bit a massive hole in my pocket!

Anyway, looking for a bit of advise really..

Ive been looking for a clio for a good few weeks now, dont really have alot of money (as im poor), but dont want a lemon, which is why its taking so long to find a decent car.

Ive got £1500 and ive been looking a the 1.8 RSi. Think this is an 8v? Ive noticed when looking on autotrader that there is the 1.8 16v as well, what are the differences between these. Up to know all all know is that the 16v has rear brakes...

Whilst were on the subject of the differences how much difference is their insurance wise do you reckon? Im 22 so insurance people dont like me too much.. my lowest quote for a RSi is £973.93 with a company called "A Quote Insurance." (This is with 2 claims, 1 my fault, one not, whith one years no claims).

Id be happy with the RSi (im going seeing 2 on monday 23rd) but would like to know about the 16v and the benefits/disadvantages.

Any help would be very appreciated as I want to go looking at cars with as much knowledge as possible.

Daz

PS, Im in Manchester so if anyone knows of any cars for sale that would laso be very helpful! :)

valver is 137bhp IIRC and theyre pretty damn fast!!!! Insurance isnt too bad, my mate got insured at 18!!!

There a lot of stinkers out there so choose carefully!!!

16V clio also has wide arches front and rear and a mean looking bonnet vent!

The valver experts will fill you in on all the technical details, but IMO the only choice would be a valver

  Not a Clio

you know that massive hole in your pocket that the metro gave you? if youre interested in valvers (1.8 16v) you might need a few more pockets unless youre lucky of course.

Im not sure about that ive had loads of mk1 clios including valvers and never had much trouble. Its the mk2 that gives me grief. If its a choice between the rsi and the valver i would recomend the valver or you will spend the rest of the time regretting settling for second best. RSi is still a good car but if you can stretch to the valver its well worth it.
