  172 Cup
Hi All,

i have just bought a Williams Blue 172, phase II, i have a few questions :)

1) are there two colours williams blue and Monaco blue?

2) it on 58k, 2001 Yreg, no history of the Cam belt being changed, how much is this likely to cost, i think it Def needs done.

3) the Car is missfiring/spitting i have new spark plugs, is there anything i need to be careful of whilst changing the sparks? looks like a few things need to be removed to access the old ones!

Many Thanks

Mike

camblet could cost you a fair wedge - 500 to 700 quid from reno

could try a reno specialist

Hi Mike,

1) As far as I am aware there is only Monaco blue. If it was advertised as Williams blue it should have been a Williams!

2)Good to have another Y reg in the club! Including myself, I think there are only three of us! That I've come across anyway. They're rather rare ;) Cam belts qare done every 72,000 miles or five years, which ever is sooner. Costs a fair whack, plus labour. Dealerships tend to vary though which I'll always find strange.

3) If the car is spitting upon starting the engine then this is quite normal as they don't idle too well from start up. Give it a few minutes to tick over. it might also be worth changing the coils?

I hope this helps? No doubt others will be along shortly to ammed/destroy what I've said!

Thanks for the reply,

1) all i know is its dark blue, hardly seen any in the colour.

2) possibly only 3 Y Regs :D love it, i have been quoted prices from £350 (i supply parts) upto £800 (all in) for the Cam Belt / Aux ect, ill post some pics up of the car soon.

3) was aware that they dont idle well on start up, the Spitting happens when driving around 4000revs, had the same problem with my last car (Punto GT) ill be changing the Sparks tonight, failing that new coil pack will be purchased.

Im looking forward to attending some meets lol

get a quote from rentech portsmouth. Good value and service. Its quite a drive but didnt want any monkey doing cambelt. Or perhaps try other renault specialists.

i've heard about Rentech they have good reviews on here, im looking for specialists abit closer to home really, but if i have to travel then i will.
