Hiya im going to look at a 172 on thursday, its 02 reg with 49k on the clock, looks in general good condition but what things should i be looking for, general faults and things that go wrong with them?

any info will be great

i cant help you with the car but.... advice for the forum, dont post pictures of your misses if you have one and take the banter with a pinch of salt lol

haha @ bifcaids....

just check general things... cambelt needs to be done at 60k so best to check that and knock down the price if it hasnt been done as it can be quite expensive... like 500+

open up oil cap and check for white frothy stuff... and check water... just to make sure head gasket hasnt gone.

shake engine as engine mounts are a thing that usually goes on a clio. also while testing driving look out for a shaky gear stick.

then just other general things like suspension, exhaust, random rattles.
