New to the Forum and Need advice

Hello All,

I am new to this forum and very keen to own a clio sport.

I used to own a ford fiesta MK5 Zetec S and people on that forum bum Clio sports! I have wanted one for ages and I am just in the middle of saving up for one.

I am unsure on which one to get, its either the 172 or 182. Which one is the best? What do I look out for when going to look for one? Are they reliable and whats the fuel economy like?

Economy is good, if you don't hammer it 24/7.... i average about 35mpg in mine, withmixed driving

As for what's better, it depends what you want really. If you have the money i'd go for a cup packed 182, the men on the site will suggest a 172 cup.

I'll just throw in my 2p in that, you'll not notice a performance difference between them on the road (IMO). If you do then you're either a nutter or there's something wrong with one of them.

I'd decide which to get based on how much you want to spend, and what kind of driver you are.

Coming from a Fiesta Zetec I'd imagine a 172 would fit the bill. If you wanted a newer model then go for the 182.

dont forget the cup spoiler and cf splitter

If i had the chance again i would go for a ph1 172. But failing that it would have to be a 172 cup

totally agree too. not just different...........but quicker, and better hanling too.


not to mention a better place to be when driving. 1*2s are shite interiorwise, uncomfy.

Coming from exactly the same boat as me - mines just gone tonight so due to see a Clio Cup 172 - test drove one nearby other day and loved it such a great car and felt much better than the mk5 zs.

172 cup + buckets + coilovers = perfect CS
