I am thinking of buying a Clio 172 I have seen one for £650 but it needs its cambelt changing and has a noisy dephaser pulley which I am able to do as I am a mechanic. The only thing is I am 22 with 2 years no claims and have had my driving licence for 4 years and my insurance Is costly. is there any way of just insuring the car for 2 days driving to the track round it and back home.

I don't really want to sell my Audi and use the Clio every day

Yes. Google "Temporary Day Insurance". There is loads. Also, you'll need specific tools to change the belts on these, not just generic tools.
