  Ly Megane 230 F1
im new to the renault seen.. previously had 106's,polo gti's and a few starlets so im not the best when it comes to clios (yet, hopefuly soon i will be :D )

i have a few questions if yous could help?

ive noticed the cambelt change on these cars are pretty expensive and i understand why since its a big engine in a small car so theres no room to easily do it..but how come the aux/air con belt kits are so expensive for these cars?

what kind of prices is the average for a cambelt change these days?

any help is good help :D thanks

Depends what car it is that you own?

The most important thing is that you go to a specialist to get it done.... Untold numbers of threads about other compnaies and even Renault dealerships f**king up cabelt changes.

I'd say allow for £450-600 to get the job done properly depending on the model version of Clio RS you have and whether or not it needs/wants a dephaser pulley. Honestly, avoid garages that say things like "Yeah, we'll have a go for £280" at all costs as it normally ends in tears and/or a poor running Clio.

There's loads of decent traders with excellent reputations on here from all over the country meaning there is most likely a good company close to you that can help out so do some research and don't be afraid to ask questions as generally the people on here are friendly. I don't get why the AC belt setup is so pricey either and I buy around 10-15 of them a month as its nearly twice the price of the 1.6 16v setup and not that much different - I guess "Renault Sport" is a licence to print money.

Dephaser is £165 but oil and filter HAVE to be changed, so + £35

cambelt and aux belt kit (my price for example, some are more, some are less) £465

inc VAT and 12months warranty

GO TO A SPECIALIST A NORMAL GARAGE WILL f**k IT UP (98% chance)

Just out of interest Fred, why does the oli and filter have to be changed when changing the dephaser?
