  Not a Clio

If you have the time then Id suggest using the search option as this has been covered many times.

Otherwise, your question will be answered in due course.

Welcome to the forum :)

i tried and failed :(

i was wondering about differences in styling ect, as ive seen some with a twin exit exhaust and some with a single.

172 cup doesnt have ABS i beleive? also most 172 cups didny come with air con as it was an option, whereas a 172 does! there are some other differences and i am sure someone can fill you in!

172 has over over the cup:

climate control
ABS with electronic distribution control (EBV)
side airbags
Boot luggage net
Xenon lamps
Leather
Heat reflective windscreen
CD changer
40w speakers
Illuminated vanity mirrors
Cruse control
traction control

Traction is switchable but didnt come on all 172s, it was late 52plate early 03 onwards IIRC. My 02 172 didnt have traction/ESP.

Not really, just the usual signs of accident damage or neglect. Only problems you might find will usually be restricted to poorly fitted trim or niggling rattles. As long as its all stamped up and looks clean/unmolested it should be fine. Only thing that tends to drop off are the rear silencers, check the pipe around the point it goes into the rear box for heavy corrosion if you can get it on a ramp or peek under.

oh and the rubber grips on the steering wheel sometimes seem to split its a whole new wheel so have a look and check theres no signs of them starting to go its not cheap to replace them.

where abouts are the engine mounts on the clio?

is it important that the coils have been changed? At what milage should they be done?

I do not think the Mk2 172 came with an CD changer, it was an optional upgrade. If not i got ripped of by the dealer

depends on the year my 02 plate came with one as standard. IIRC later ones with cruise/esp as standard the 6 disc changer became a £250 option.

look at then engine mounts too and dont forget to ask how many coils have been changed.

engine mounts youll be able to tell by driving its harder to tell just looking at it. Coils? why would he need to know that, its fairly rare on a 172 to have issues with the coilpack its normally the smaller engined models that suffer.

Does the 182 come with traction control? I dont remember seeing it on the list of specs on the renaultsport site
