Newbie seeking advice on V6's

I'm going to be getting a V6,
I have budgeted on spending around £11k for a V6. I've seen a few 2002 mk1 for this.
Can anyone give me any information on what I should be looking out for when viewing these cars.
What problems or major expenses are there in ownership if any.

Any info would be much appreciated.
Thankyou.

Coils can fail. Servicing can be expensive as any changing of the cambelts needs the engine out.

Also the phase 1's had a habbit of crashing so check for accident damage if its been hard driven.

Make sure 'all' gears are selecting with no crunch, when they get to around 20k miles the clutch starts to go, with all that grip and doing off the line grand prix starts will soon wear it out, and its not cheap. Check brake pads, if they are very low.. could easily start to score the disks.. my rear pads were caught just in time before any damage was done. As Edd said, had a coil fail on mine, but within a few hrs it was done under warranty.

Apart from that was very reliable, no real issues in 2 years and great experience to own! :D

Try and push your budget a little bit further and buy a Mk2:)

And as already stated, take a look at www.v6clio.net its full of info for Mk1's and Mk2's too.

mk2 wasnt out when I 1st got mine, but deff the mk2 is the one to get and you'll have some warranty left, I wouldnt buy one without it! Seeing some of the prices now its a small price for a lot of fun.

I'd say expanding your budget from £11k to a minimum of £15k isn't really a "stretching", more paying half again. Don't be confused, there really is a big difference in price between the mk1 and mk2.
