Greetings!
Thanks for the resource so far. Certainly helpful in deciding on which model to buy, faults, fixes and the mods
Long Intro Below, sorry :
So I arrived at a Clio as a choice while basically looking for something that can truly be called "great handling". Having Googled around for a while I came to a top ten list of best FWD cars ever and the Clio was right in there, right underneath one of my previous cars the Honda Integra R.
If the Clio is anything like approaching that then I am in for a real treat!
Having never owned a French car at all, I was a little nervous based on "pub talk" but looking at the Clios track record on major mechanical bits it doesn't appear to be anything worrying at all.
Going to be on the hunt for a 182, preferably with a few tasteful mods (exhaust, Turini wheels, filter, decat, remap - that sort of thing. Just don't want anything slammed to the floor and rocking a half ton of subwoofers in the boot - buying for handling and pace not sounds )
Be after a yellow, orange, metallic blue I think, certainly with Cup handling bits as a minimum. Not fussed on the aircon etc as will be charging it or ITB's as I would like a few more ponies out of it
So it seems the car history is obligatory (running down from current):
Saab 93 HOT - my £700 "shed" that has turned out ok but it leaves me completely cold fun wise.
Mazda 323 ZXI - £300 "shed" that was an absolute gem, just a little lacking in power. Cambelt went on it unexpectedly - or rather the last owner neglected to do it properly and saved a few quid by not bothering with the tensioners! Bang!
Audi S4 B5 - 340+ bhp kid carrying estate. Loved it, modded it, but it near enough bankrupt me keeping it running and caused no end of argument with the Mrs as she was using it as daily driver and scratching it or not noticing it needed (frequent) yet another sensor doing!
Integra Type R - still my fave car of all time. Nothing has come close to the smiles I got in that car.
Civic VTI - the car I bought when I was doing lots of miles and REALLY wanted the Integra but couldn't see my fillings lasting on the motorway every day LOL
Various other boring motors - etc
Also have a motorbike - which I am selling to get the Clio as I haven't used it in a year being so close to work it takes me longer to get on the gear than I am on the road.
Triumph Street Triple
Then the Buell STT I had before that - rust magnet, but made a lovely sound.
So that's me. Sorry to bore you, I do rabbit on!
I do a fair bit of detailing as a hobby, so expect a few shots when I get the car up to MY level of clean.
Expect me around meets in the South West
