Yeah same here, its up to you if you want to use SSL. Some providers charge extra for SSL so if its free then use it else i wouldnt bother.

I'm with Sky BB and get around 1.7MB/s download speeds. Pretty impressive considering AOL was maxing out at 600KB/s.

Something not right then. I have a 8MB BB connection and get 814kbps download CONSTANT. Same at home & work!

What the hell is SSL anyway?

I'm using LLU. It's all just letters, TBH. LOL. IIRC.

Secure Sockets Layer

Transport Layer Security (TLS) and its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), are cryptographic protocols that provide security and data integrity for communications over networks such as the Internet. TLS and SSL encrypt the segments of network connections at the Transport Layer end-to-end.

Remember that a stated connection speed of 8Mb (which is 8 Mega BITS) is only TOP SPEED.

So realistically you will get it if you and you only were using it. Then distance from exchange for ADSL.

Then virgin, that means you get it after peak hours (peak hours 7am till 8pm) isnt it? Bandwidth is throttled until then. making it more effecient really.

Bandwidth is throttled on VM only after you have downloaded more than your peak hours data allowance.
