Nikon D80

  Megane Mk4
It's not a thread type design, it's a Bayonet type fitment namely, 'Nikon F Mount', Compatible with Nikon lens types:
  • DX AF
  • D-/G-type AF (excluding IX)
  • AF (other than D-/G-type excluding lenses for F3AF)
  • AI-P,
  • Non-CPU AI NIKKOR Lenses
For you to fit anything other than Nikon based lens, you will need conversion adaptors, the bayonet fitment size for the D80 is the same for every other Nikon DSLR Camera, Nikon F mount has a throat width of 44mm, a flange-back distance of 43.5mm, and 3-bayonet lugs.

so yes you mean the thread on the end of the lens that you can screw filters or lens attachments like a wide angle on to... iirc it will be 57mm for most of the kit lenses... however that may be wrong, it will say on the lens somewhere... if u post what model lens it is i can help you more.
