NO intermittent wipe URGENT

hello, my car has recently failed mot because of no intermittent wipe, i changed the stalk as a first resort and it has made no difference im guessing its to do with wiring or could it be another component? any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Take apart the rain sensor behind the rear view mirror and clean it, resemble it with a smear of ibuprofen gel on the jelly sensor, then resemble, fixed mine, i had no intermittent wipe.

Search my project thread a few pages before the end if you want to see roughly what it looks like.

if i've taken out my rain sensor ( black thing on windscreen ) out then could this be the reason? :S and if so is there anyway around it as i don't have it anymore :O

ah god sake haha... well i stripped my car and it looked odd with having the plastic there looks like i gotta find one of these then! MOT is rebooked for saturday which doesnt help matters! :rasp:

If the output to the rain sensor is just a varying resistance (im guesisng, I dont know) then you might be able to replicate it with a fixed or variable resistor if someone gets you a value from it when its lightly raining or whatever.

right okay well seeing as im in devon it will probably be raining tonight so ill just do a raindance and wait for the rain to come and see what i can do, if all else fails ill just get a new sensor tomorrow, thanks for help

Do you have a serv lght on? I bought my car with the sensor missing and 'serv' light on. Just repgrammed my uch with the clip tool and told the computer that it didnt have the rain sensor and switched on the option for intermittent wipers. All sorted, no more 'serv' light.
