Big thread on DW about it, as much lot's of people will flame me for it, IMO Onyx is still the best wax out there for the money, just get it from Swissvax direct.

Maybe look into the Dodo Range, the Purple Haze comes close, shame it is like using colour magic.

Have you tried the Rubbish Boys yet Rich? It isn't colour charged and smells gorgeous. The Juiced edition has just been released too which will be interesting.

I have one of the trial pots of it, again like the Blue Velvet was put of with how hard it is in the pot so have decided not to use it on my 182. May try some on the 306 with the Zymol Titanium fails.

How do you
apply hard waxes? by hand or applicator?

I apply all waxes by foam hand pad, warm the hard waxes up with my fingers first till they go spreadable.

The Saphir is great, no real looks advantage over Onyx but should be more durable.

^^^ Agreed, or try Dodo or Rubbish Boy's.

Rich have you ever tried applying by hand? I still haven't mastered it, but getting there! You do get some funny looks though! Haha.

I applied my Concours like that a few times, found it was using a lot more product than warming it up with my fingers in the pot to make it spreadable and applying a nice thin coat with a foam hand pad.

Yeah I have a problem getting thin layers too. It's not so bad once I have put my hand on the paint as i can then "stretch" and pull the wax around, but i seem to have really thick hand shape areas of wax. Tou heard about the hard and soft Dodo that is applied in two stages?

can i put it in the microwave ?

ill be using an mf applicator pad. works a treat with srp.

£60 is a lot of bloody wax lol. im still undecided.

You only need to melt the top layer of wax in the pot so I dont think theres any need, just rub your finger on the top.

I would seriously consider the Dodos etc.

There are all colours for different colour cars, but alot of it is marketing and you wont really see a difference if you use the "wrong" one for your colour car.

Got my name down for some, mainly because it doe not look as artifically coloured as the other waxes which was my main turn off.

As said finger tips are fine, on a warm day placing it in the sun is enough.

the blue s**t ?

I would go for Purple Haze tbh.

kk.

ill be getting the purple s**t then.

also getting some Meguiars Super Degreser in bulk and a spray bottle because engine and machine cleaner is a bloody fortune and i want to clean my wheels. and the der wunder buffing towels.

all good ?

  106 GTi
You should not really a degreaser every time you wash the wheels, polish and seal them and soap and water will be fine.

ok ive got the purple stuff, a spray bottle with a nozzle and i plan on using shampoo plus diluted instead. i never ever ever ever ever EVER polish or seal my whelels, allways use ag engine and machine cleaner on them.
