non sport suspension setup

  ph2 172
Been doing a bit of researching and I can't find much info on making a non-sport corner well other than people getting sportlines or pro sports. So having a look at the 1*2 suspension threads, I've seen people go for sportlines and koni dampers all round with talk of getting a rear ARB from whiteline. I've also seen people say go for blisten dampers, however while i searched through there catalog there seems to be a few different types b4, b6 ,b8.

So has anyone ever done anything like sport lines, koni dampers and a rear ARB to a non-sport? Would all 3 things improve the handling? Why koni/blisten over avo and the likes ?
Would the whiteline/group buy ARB make a difference without damper just springs? Obviously tyres would play a big part in handling too lets just say RS2's for now as they are pretty cheap and get good reviews.

Top mounts, are they worth the money? I'd guess that OEM one are probably fine for a non-sport?

I'm not really into suspension for looks, I want to corner faster cause I can't go in a straight line as fast as i want to because clio sport's are way out of my insurance budget :( one day though... one day....

All three would result in epic handling.
Yes a rear arb on its own will give a improvement.
Oem top mounts will be fine.

If i wanted to, id go for eibach sportlines, new shocks, and change front ARB bushes...

As it stands im on standard old shocks, eibach prolines, and the handling is pretty decent.

Not sure they do a rear whiteline arb for the non sports buddy, unless the one for the sport wil fit, but I doubt it. I'm on standard shocks n sportlines and it has improved the handling and the rides pretty good.

Wouldn't bother with konis on a non sport, it's not getting tracked and I doubt it will make much difference, but I may be wrong.

Springs n tyres would be your best bet

I had standard dampers and spings > soft as hell, and rolled round corners on wing mirrors
then went to standard dampers and sportlines > improved cornering quite a bit but wasnt uncomfortable
now im running fk silverline X coilovers which are fully adjustable, and handle brilliantly

As far as I am aware the whiteline/custom ARB doesnt fit non-sports due to the beam being different.
Solid Top mounts would be a good combo with coilovers, if its on standard dampers I doubt they would be noticeable.

Remember you'll have to include these changes to insurance, which will no doubt cost you as well.

Hey guys, thanks for the replys.
demon tweeks seem to think that whiteline on fits http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Perfo...nce_Adjustable_AntiRoll_Bar/332/0/78573/38453
and i think the guy running the ARB group buy said it would fit.

@ guysy, i see you have pro sports, but you want sportlines, it that for the drop in ride height they have over the pro's ?

I'll definitely be telling my insurance about the changes, i wouldn't do them otherwise.
Oh and i'd need my alignment doing again, are the standard settings the best to go for ?

the ARB in all honesty wont make a massive amount of difference to road handling so I wouldn't bother too much unless you are tracking it. Its only going to have an effect if you are cornering really really hard. A set of coilovers will make a difference, I would argue that even a budget set of coilovers will be better than shocks and springs from past experience of a fixed rate bilstein suspension set which was awfull compared to FK coilovers which enable my 1.2 to quite happily sit with a 1*2 in the twisties.

Agree with this totally. My FK's have transformed my car and the cornering is dramatically improved. Could keep up with 1*2's on a mini lakes meet in the twisties.
