none standard filter in standard air box

i was told by my insurance company that i could have a none standard filter within a clio 16v airbox and it wont effect my insurance,

i have a k&n but it wont fit, has anyone heard of this before and tried it?

anyone know any small air filters which might fit?

i know i wont get any performance out of it but it may effect the sound a little.

Actually you *might* get a couple of extra bhp out of it, but it probably wont make any difference to the noise. Thats what I found anyway.

What panel filter are you using Mike?

I was thinking about an IK but then some people have said this has slowed their cars down. Does the panel filter fair better?

IK are mainly for noise. You may get a bit more power or at least better pick up. But in the summer, even with cold air feeds, they are killers. If you want one that is pretty much guarnteed results then get a viper...if it will fit. I myself am modifying the airbox with cold air feeds. Works well for summer use and town driving aswell as open road use.

when i fitted the standard airbox to my valver after using an IK it didnt seem any quicker but i didnt have a cold air feed on it,suppose it just seems quicker when u have the roaring Induction noise hehe

yeah thats what i feel like after changing from a k&n to standard. i wish they was a way to make the roar without performance :D

Pipercross. About £35. And you can clean it so you never need to pay for an air filter again!

i had a k&N panel filter on my valver and it made a small difference, not much noise but a little bit more power!
