Noob question

  Corsa vxr
Hi. I was just wondering if the ph1 172 is the same underneath as the later 172 and 182s just the facelift or would I be wrong ?

cheers

Underneath as in?

The exhausts are different and the 182 doesn't have the spare wheel well in the boot (due to the exhaust layout)

Welcome btw

  Many.
Some of it is.

Suspension is mostly the same, however I believe the front subframe has the wishbone mountings furhter out from what Chip etc on here has said.

If its non-abs it'll be a closer relation to the Ph2 172 Cup than a non-cup.

Shocks/springs all transfer.

Edit: 182 has some things different, Extra caster wishbones (same as fitted on 172 Cups), Larger wheel bearings in the front hubs.

Iv been offered a ph1 172 but it's got the newer front end on it e.g. Bumper wings and bonnet I was just wondering if it would give me any hassle down the line. Would I be right in thinking coilovers from a 182 would go onto a ph1 or would I be mistaken ?

cheers for the help btw

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
no they wont fit, the shocks have different bolt spacing where they fix to the hub.
if its only the bumper/wings/bonnet that's been changed over, then everything underneath will continue to be for a ph1 172 if you ever need to maintain or replace anything.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Kelv, its ONLY the 182 cup (and the trophy based on it) that has the different 60mm bolt spacing, a normal 182 is on the same 54mm hubs as the Ph1 and Ph2 172 and 172 cup.
