not allowed to change my number plate

Just wondered if anyone else has this, my car has been a little damaged before I owned it I am not allowed to change the number plates on it as of the V5. Does this mean its been in a serious crash?

cant see why you cant change it unless its a q plate

What does it say exactly? I'd get in touch with the DVLA and ask why.

Mines says on the reg plate that the "Registration mark is non-transferable" but I just put this down to the previous owner having a private plate on it.

You can put a private plate on, as you said it means its had a private plate on beforehand
