Number Plates

just about to order some new plates for my car as the ones ive got on are all manky and falling to bits -

just wondering if anyones got any suggestions for what to have as my "badge" on the left handside?

i dont want anything gay like a playboy bunny or anything like that - i want something renault related but the only thing i can come up with is the Renault badge but thats a bit boring? the only other thing i could come up with was the website logo on its side but i didnt know if that would breach copyright or anything?

Any bright ideas?

I prefer totally plain also. Distracts peoples attention when you just want them looking at your car.

what about cliosport along the bottom of it ?

logos/badges up the side are illegal !!

apart from the small flag ones !

My gfs old dear had a Scotland flag put on her number plate - on a brand new car, fresh from dealership.. surely they wouldnt put an illegal plate on there??

if they arent legal they want to sort out their advertising then !!

as they reckoned they were the only legal thing apart from the re gyou could have !!

Since September 2001 you have been allowed the European Union symbol, it was illegal to have other flags/symbols.

Since December 2001 the national flags (Union Flag, St. Georges Cross, Scotish Saltire & Welsh Dragon) have been allowed, its just that the government havent yet amended the regulations.

If you have the EU symbol you dont need to have a GB sticker if you take your car abroad.

Remember it is not only the police that can nick you, and MOT testers that can fail your cars MOT. DVLA officials can issue tickets (IIRC they are like 7 day wonders) for licencing and registration offences. DVLA employees are issued books of tickets (I know coz my sister is a DVLA inspector) and can stick one on your motor any time they like, and they probably know the regulations better than your average beat bobby.

Im not having a pop at people with illegal plates, (Id have some myself but my sister would always be sticking a ticket to my car every time she came over!) but I think its only fair that anyone contemplating fitting such plates to their car should know as many of the facts as possible.

If you have a flashing blue LED tailpipe trim and a badly fitted neon kit where the bare tubes are all showing and the wires hanging down, if you get stopped they might not notice the slightly illegal logo in place of the EU sign on your plate? Just a thought.

Ive never had any problem with my plates - illegal typeface and spacing but completely legal plate size and EU symbol, maybe that puts them off the scent?
