Nurburgring in the Fiesta ST 2016

So after the disaster of last year with my first ring trip ( see below ) this time things were going to go smoothly and with no problems .



We left Pagham at 3.00 AM to get the 7.30 ferry from Dover to Calais

Then it was through France in to Belgium then down in to Germany .



This was all ok with some great weather and a few stops for fuel and food / Coffee and were on the E20 motorway for most of the journey .



This took around 5 hours and I did get to stretch the Fiesta legs on the Autobahn to 130 ( please note this was on a de restricted part of the autobahn so was all fine ) before traffic slowed things down .



So we got to the hotel ( An Der Nordschleife ) dumped the bags and went for a well-earned drink .

We had a look round and just over the road from our room was part of the track .

We then went for dinner at Pinochio .

Wednesday we had breakfast and went to a few local towns had lunch then went to have a look round the Nurburgring info center .

Then we went to have a look at the track entrance before collection the RING4RENT car .

We then went to RING4RENT to have a briefing and pick up the Swift Sport stage 2 ( roll cage , exhaust , manifold , air filter , track tyres Advan A048 , endless brakes and fully striped out with bucket seats and 4 point harness ) in Pink J

First lap was scary and was spent on the right with the indicator on and seemed to go on for ever just looking in the rear view mirror .



The second lap was much better as the traffic had thinned out a bit and was not looking behind mw all the time but almost stacked the car in to the wall when I was looking behind me and not seeing the tight right hander so two wheels were on the grass understeering to the wall !!!



The third lap half way round there was a yellow flag as a biker was laying by the side of the track after a crash and the track was closed and we called it a day there after 3 laps took the car back and signed the wall of champions J

We then gave the car back and went for dinner at Pistenklause .



Great place with so much stuff on the walls and a great stake on a stone .

Thursday we went for a drive and a look round the beautiful arear .

We then went to the Nurburgring museum .

I really wanted to put the little Fiesta ST on track on the Thursday as we did not have any cars booked for this day but the wife would not let me so we went and watched where our hotel is

Our last day Friday we bummed around waiting till 5.15 PM when the track opens and then picked our Swift up again a Purple one this time .

I did a lap then the Wife had a go ( very scary being the passenger ) and then I did 5 more and by lap 5 was going round at a respectable speed and was overtaking a few cars .



We then went back and dropped the car back off and Lucy signed the wall .

Got up early at 4.00 AM Saturday to catch the ferry home L

What an amazing week the place is just buzzing with motorsport and driving on the Nurburgring is a very special thing indeed .



If you only ever do one track day / trip make sure it is this one .

Looks a good trip! How much do they charge for the Swift?

We took a stage 1 & 2 swift out on our 3rd year - they'll show up a lot more powerful/expensive cars through the twisties. Absolute crackers.
