obd reader different ph1/ph2?

my obd works fine on my ph2 but wont connect to ph1

are the 2 different in some way? possibly obd1 on the ph1

What OBD are you using? My m8 bought one for his 206 rc from ebay and works for him, but sadly not for me on my ph1. ( I think it's ELM something..)
I want one, but I don't know which one to order that it would work.

i know the other cheapo ones wouldnt work on my phase 2 but this did so id assumed the ph1 would be the same

il squirt a bit contact cleaner in the port as there isnt a cover on it so possibly fillwd with 10 year old dirt

OBDII standards didn't come in until late 2001. Cars made before that aren't compatible with that.

There are code readers that will work however, i.e. RS Tuner and Autel FR704

Must be a bit of variation, I have a seriously cheap odb reader, an ELM327 and it works fine on my Ph1 - Reg'd in 2001!

use a bluetooth ELM327 with the torque app on my ph1 year 2000 and also works on ph2s.

yes ashtray wont fit with the adapter in place

if you unclipped the obd connector from the mount and move it forward looks like it would fit with the ashtray fitted.

Phase 1 uses KLine (KWP2000) for all transmissions where as the Ph2 is CAN (it does still retain KLine for diag purposes) but your scanner cannot communicate as it's most likely purely CAN compliant

kwp rings a bell,it comes up kwp200 or 2000 i forget just before it says failed to connect
so will that ebay joby in the link work on the ph1 with the torque app ?
