OEM stereo on and off with ignition

  Monaco Blue Mk2
My standard tuner list head unit used to turn on and off when I gave the car power. If I turned the ignition off the stereo would go off. The stereo used to remember what state it was in when the ignition was last turned off e.g. if I turned the stereo off before the ignition, it would stay off when I turned the ignition back on and vise versa. Now, no matter what I do, I always have to turn the stereo on when I get in the car and off when I get out. I know this isn't a massive problem but it is a bit annoying and also has the potential for me getting out the car and leaving the stereo for however long I leave the car!
If anyone has similar problems or knows what the problem is and how to sort it, let me know. Thanks.

There's a switchable live wire - which the HU uses to know if the car is on/off. Check that hasn't failed.

If it has failed, you can run a wire from the lighter socket for a similar signal.

Also check fuses etc...

I don't think it's loosing memory as such as I think it still remembers all the radio stations although to be honest I hardly ever/never use the radio, I'll check though. Another point that may be worth mentioning after what ohms said, I don't think the lighter socket is working either!

I checked when the cig lighter first stopped working and they were fine. Cig lighter first stopped working when my ipod FM transmitter fell apart in it, so I checked the fuse then. I'll have another look later though.

Thanks fella. Is it any good? Make a nice noise without too much power loss? I'd be getting a heat shield aswel.

Is that the one that you've got do you know? Part number PK153c? How much did you pay?
