Oi! Hands off meh new 182!

  Orange 182

Having visited Renault Liverpool last weekend I spent most of the time oggling the nice Black Gold 182 that was there. However, I couldnt help noticing a delivery truck with a collection of new Dynamiques on it... as I walked back to my GFs car I noticed the Renault lads who were unloading the Clios were tear-arsing around in them, reversing the bollox out of them and then wheel spinning off into the stock area!

Im mildly concerned that this is going to happen when my 182 arrives at the dealer. Of course, its not like I can do much about it and it probably happens with most cars you buy I guess... What I was wondering is whats the usual mileage youd expect to see on a brand new car? Are we talking 0-10 miles or can it be anything up to 50? Id be interested to know the mileage on the 182s picked up by some peeps recently. Just so when I go pick mine up, Ill know if theyve been for a quick blast in it first.

Mine had 7 and my previous car which was delivered to my office on a trailer had 16.

Right cheers...

So if I get there and its got 93 miles on the clock and bald tyres I reckon I got a good case to complain ;).

mine had 6. Wouldnt accept any more than 15. Or id ask for an explanation otherwise.

Indeed the courtesy car i got the other day had 2 niles on it when i picked it up.

the normal is about 5 ish on the clock,
you should report them if they are wheel spining like that, i work for the nottingham branch, and you are graded my your age on what you can drink, so only over 39s acn drive the 2.0l cars so 90% cant drive them also with new cars such as this 182 mainly mangers will drive them, so i wouldnt worry too much about it.

sad becouse if i book me own car into the work shops im not coverd to drive it!!! un less its on my inscurance...

good luck with the new car.

Thanks marksmini.

These looked like a couple of young lads, but I guess that means the Dynamiques were probably 1.2s maybe? The only reason I noticed them doing it was because Id gone hunting for the 182 and ended up at the staff parking area across from the main Dealer/Showroom area. Youre right about the managers driving the 182s tho, after speaking to a guy there and another bloke at Altrincham, the managers had bagsied the 182s :).

My DCi had 4miles and that included a drive by the saleman to fill up with fuel (well thats what he said)

Have you asked about picking the car up yourself not sure if Renault let you but I know Merc do would be good fun and a holiday as well.

Do you mean picking it up from the Renault dealer?

Ive actually decided to pick mine up from Renault rather than pay for delivery. Its a bit of an arse because its being delivered to Renault Liningtons in Portsmouth and I live in Cheshire! Im getting the train down and then driving it the 200-odd miles back ;). Im really looking forward to the drive tbh and its a good way to plough through a chunk of the running in miles!

hate to say it but if the workshop foreman/tech who pdis the cars and road tests them before they get valeted is anything like our guy is then every car will have had the titts revved out of it and given a good caining down a dually before you even sit behind the wheel

hmm, mine had 9 on but he said he went to the petrol station to fill up. he showed me the computer to show the average mph which was 7.9 but it probably wasnt reading right at the time and said he didnt thrash it but I bet the little c**ts did.

Ever thought of using another dealer? ;)

If they do this to the new cars, do you think they will have any respect for yours? i doubt it and if the dealer lets them do this then i wouldnt trust them with my car at all

I do remember when i was younger (in the 80s) when seeing the french loading the 205s onto the boat at Calais, they all use to run straight for the 1.9 GTis and rag the ass off them, then onto the 1.6 GTis and do exactly the same thing..... ouch!

Ive heard of a few but never met anyone they are usually Merc owners who do it.

It would be good though you could bed the engine in and bvring back loads of duty free which will help lower the suspension.

What a class idea edde... If Im ever tempted to slam my 182 thats surely going to be the cheapest option! ;)

TB11, I aint ordered my 182 from Renault Liverpool, I just called in for a nosey round. Im off down to Portsmouth for mine which is a place Ive never even been to, so Ive no idea what the dealer is like... Anyone been to Renault Liningtons in Portsmouth? (please dont tell me they are the worst in the country!)
