Oil filter sandwich plate or sump plug adapter for an oil temp gauge?

Where is the most accurate reading from, filter housing or sump?

I would say filter, as thats after its left the pump
Sump will be cooler and oil may pick up some heat in the pump so truer reading

Agree. Filter housing is better. Sump will be cooler and give a less accurate reading.

Filter housing is closer to all the hot spots so gives a true reading.
