Oil Leak from Cam Cover Bolts

  Saab 93 Aero Wagon
Is the cure to remove the offending bolts and re-seal them?

If so, does anyone have a guide of any sort and which type of sealant (i.e brand, type) should be used?

Theres no gasket and its a cam out job to reseal it as the cover has the top half of the cam bearing cast in it. If its just coming out the bolts you can try taking one out at a time putting some sealant round it and replacing it its a 50/50 chance.

Its definitely coming from the cam cover bolts, so would a normal gasket sealant do the job of sealing them?

Oh and its not on my car....its Clare's 182....

had this problem on mine on a bolt today just cleaned the area up with break cleaner then use some engine sealent covered around the bolt leaking.

job done

Ahhh ok. Well in this case it seems to be coming from a number of bolts so its goona be an inlet manifold off job.
So just an engine sealant? Any brand you can recommend?

yh wip the manifold off, then clean the area around the bolt and just appile small amount making sore it covers round the hole circumfernce of the bolt

just get some high temperture engine sealent (worth RTV sealent) , sump sealent is very good one to use.

doesn't need to be anything special but avoid non-setting pastes like hylomar/hermetite red and blue. Remember to use a torque wrench on the bolts when re-fitting, 12Nm.
