Opening PDF files

HELP! For some reason I'm not able to open and read PDF files but I don't know why as it was OK a while back! Is there something I can download to enable me to read them please?

When I tried to open a PDF file emailed to me a messsage said "there was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found"

I'm trying to download Acrobat Reader 8.1 and it said I already have it so what do I do please? Have you got the correct link I can click on please?

I made a guess at the link and haven't tested it, but I would hope the guys at Adobe are clever enough to make that resolve!

Uninstall the previous version in Add/Remove Programs.

I assume it's a PDF you definitely want to open? I've had a fair few dodgy emails recently with pdf's attached, needless to say they got deleted!

Try opening another PDF file, if it opens then it sounds like either its not really a PDF you were sent ... or it got corrupted somehow.

If its from someone you don't know be suspicious and get the file checked out before opening.

It's from a friend and is OK and I have tried opening two other PDF files that were readable before but when I click on them nothing happens! The file I am trying to open at the moment is a profile of someone from 2005 that I have to take some info from and it suggested I open it with Acrobat 6.0 which I then downloaded but still nothing has happened and I still can't read it!!

SORTED this afternoon but I've not been on since! Did the uninstall bit... the file was done in 2005 and I needed to download Acrobat 6 and then I was able to read it. It's just a bike racer's profile so not corrupt - but thanks Griff & Co as always!
