Opening TIF file in windows 10

Always worked fine until maybe a few days ago (which coincides with a windows update!)

It just used to open with windows picture viewer but now nothing will open it. Just says it is unsupported.

I can't seem to find any answer online or a suitable program to download and use to open them. Can anyone help?

Another free alternative is XnView. Used it for years - in particular the batch convert option which allows masses of images to be converted to another format.
