youd need to do the conversion, around £500~ iirc. People on here have done it tho.

to get them conveted legaly it would cost about a £1000+ (if buying all the parts from reno)

its a gas discharge lighting, as in the gas burns producing the light. Where as normal halogen lamps are a filament which glows white hot producing the light. The xenon light is much clearer, crisp whitey/blue discharge whereas the tungsten often glows a bit yellowy.

i have been intrieged (if thats how you spell it) about whats so special about xenons, compared to normal lights,

please someone tell me

They give a bit of extra light whilst annoying every other car on the road. Nothing worse than being followed by someone with xenons or seeing one come the other way.

They sound good and blind every other f**ker on the road

ive never had a problem with them myself:confused: (probably after looking at 6x 150w versions for two weeks in work)

Better H4s and sidelights did the trick for me. Much better than the standard Clios setup.

Not quite Xenon bright but far cheaper and legal.

No, you cant just buy a couple off ebay and plug em in.

plus, to pass your mot you will need headlight washer jets

read above post;)

Does any one know what is the reasoning behind the need to have headlamp washers?

something to do with the beam on them being narrow i think, and muck could effect the vision

if you need the washer jets to be legal, then howcome the companies above sell their kits and are said to be road legal and will not fail you MOT etc but no mention of the jets? Also arent xenons meant to be auto height adjusting to prevent dazzling oncoming drivers??

# All our HID systems are DOT approved, MOT approved and fully E-compliant in all safety, E.M. emmission and performance specifications. As far as we are aware these are the only HID kits on the market that meet all these requirements.

# This makes our kits ROAD LEGAL ; there is a lot of misinformation regarding the legality of HID systems fitted to cars without headlamp power wash and rear axle self levelling ...these are only an E.U. legal requirement on Xenon systems fitted to NEW cars AT THE FACTORY PRODUCTION STAGE.

# HID systems fitted as aftermarket accessory DO NOT REQUIRE the car to have power wash or self levelling ; even the DOT get this wrong sometimes .... our expensive lawyers did not !

# Whilst you may see some of our outer casings used on "other" kits , rest assured the internal circuitry , EM shielding and electronics ( mostly of Panasonic origin ) are of our own PATENTED design , and UNIQUE to these systems.

from AutoBulbs Direct...

Are these aftermarket kits road legal?

Yes. All our HID systems are CE approved and E4 certificated in all safety, E.M. emmission and performance specifications.
This means that they are road legal. There is a lot of confusion regarding the legality of HID systems fitted to cars without headlamp power wash and rear axle self levelling. This legislation only applies to systems fitted to NEW vehicles at the factory production phase.
HID systems fitted as an aftermarket accessory DO NOT REQUIRE the car to have power wash or self levelling.

Yes, and the advantage of having them is that people get out of your way because they dont like being in front of you..

i was answering his original question by the way, which was "if xenon (or whatever theyre called) clio sport lights were fitted onto a non-sport model ", so in essence he would need washer jets, as the headlights would appear to be fitted by renault !!!:)
