the oval plate is jsut that, a stamped peice of tin with the build details of your car on it.
ON MK1 clios its on teh slam panel above the offside headlight, on the MK2s its on teh drivers pillar near the bottom.
It has vehicle codes, colour, build dates, specs, interior specs etc etc etc......
