Overclocking E6600

  Fiesta ST
Recently overclocked this little puppy to 3.2ghz (400mhz x 8 ratio 1:1) and getting a steady 30c.

Anyone clocked it higher to 3.6ghz? is it stable? what temps you running?

I run mine at 3.2ghz as well

I did step it up to 3.5 on Air, but when rinsing games kept getting blue screens. Fiddled for ages and settled on 3.2 and has been steady since.

how are you overclocking it then? Just changing the multiplier in the BIOS? I'm buying an £1100 setup at the end of the month (including the E6600)

Yep through the Bios

I use a Gigabyte DS4 motherboard

What board you planning on using Gareth? Some are better overclockers than others. You wont have any problems seeing 3.2 on the E6600 though

It isnt just the Multiplier though, fiddling with that. Also need to fiddle with memory timings etc and decent memory is important IMO for a stable overclock

I'm using a Asus P5W DH mobo with 2 gig Corsair DDR2 800mhz Ram.

The E6600 runs with the multiplier of x9 but I had to drop this to 8 and set the FSB to 400mhz so I could run my ram at 800mhz (ratio 1:1) I also had to up the V-core slightly and turned off all other safety apps.

yeah, unfortunately its just gone out of stock, so may have a bit of ball-ache trying to get hold of one.
