up the fsb in the motherboard settings bits at the time until the computer wont boot first then lower it down by about 4mhz after it stops booting..

Well i have a P5B motherboard, an e6400 @ 3.2Ghz (2.13 stock), 2Gb of OCZ and an 8800GTS.
I'm running a FSB of 400 and the RAM has 2.1V going to it.
Basically the easiest way is as has been mentioned, slowly increase the FSB from default, and test the stability. You will probably need to give the RAM and CPU more volts if you go fairly high, but the CPU only needs a tiny increase

option should be in something named like "cpu settings" or something try going up about 4mhz at a time

get a program called cpu-z

I have an E6400 also but havent taken upto 3ghz, although i have read it can take upto 3ghz on standard voltage and cooling.

If you cant be arsed to change the voltage settings then i have mine running at 2.6ghz

Multiplier is set to 8
FSB is set to 333mhz as my ram is only 333mhz

If you have 400mhz ram then go straight to that and have done.
