painting wheels, material magnesium; special methods ??

  RS RIP
Is there a special method because of the different material here ? Powder coat or paint ?

I'll be buying some magnesium wheels soon , they're black so they HAVE to change colour ;)

i have no idea, no experience with painting metals

if they are already painted then you should be ok to paint them normally. just try not to brake through the paint to the metal as you will have to use a special primer. but if you just scotch them up with some grey scotch (providing there is no damage to them) you should be fine.

that's sound advice , thanks.

What do i do with the slight damage they have got from tyre changes etc. ?

so important is NOT to strip/sand the paint off , glad i know this beforehand..

if needed to strip off the paint ; how much $$ will this special primer be ? expensive job?

it depends how bad the damage is. if it is light scuffs then they may just sand out without going through to the metal but if you do i dont think the primer is expensive and it probly comes in a can but if you do get some i would go to a proper car paint dealers as it not something that halfords would do. but at the same time if it is quite bad and you need to put a bit of stopper in them the you could probly use 2 pack high build primer which would be ok as it is thick so would probly stop it reacting with the metal
