Whatever you do practice on loads of spare bits first.
Are you planning on painting a bodykit or the car itself?
Either way preparation is the key. Make sure the surface is flat with no dips in where you pressed too hard on the wet dry paper. Make sure you use white spirit and a tack cloth to get the surface perfectly clean before you apply any paint. Keep all coats of paint thin and consistant and make sure you mask off any exposed plastic or whatever so you dont get any overspray on it.
I spray a wee bit and have a few tips, do loads cause it takes practise (you will get progressively better), and spray in warm dry conditions only. Also dont mix differing types of coatings as you will get reactions.
