Pc help!

Laptop playing up. Wouldn't start up earlier, kept freezing halfway through. Now it starts, but ie and firefox won't start, and mcafee says i'm not protected but everytime i try to start a scan it won't, just comes up with an error code saying scan failed to start. Tried restoring to earlier date, no joy. Any ideas?

if you have the original disc with the windows software on you could put that in and wipe everything so you have a fresh copy of windows you just have to put all your programs on again and make sure you put all the important files on disc before you do it like music pics documents etc.

you will have a nice clean fast laptop then

Managed to sort it, defrag sorted the problem. Thanks though!

A defrag wouldn't fix any problems like that. It only reorganises the files to reduce file fragmentation.

anyway, its working for you again and that all that matters.

Yer a defrag wouldnt fix the computer must have been something else you did lol anyways i had a major problem with a laptop not long ago, it was my uncles and it was getting on a bit now and they did look after it. And he said he was working on it then went away came back and wouldnt work atall. The whole hardrive had given up and was stuffed it was completly corrupted and because the dvd drive didnt work either couldnt re-install windows, was a nightmare so in the end just told him to get another laptop.
